At Shivom, turmeric is grown as an intercrop among mango trees, benefiting from the sparse shade these trees provide. The planting process involves using whole or split mother rhizomes between April and May. Turmeric is nurtured with a mix of in-house vermicompost and cow dung and then mulched with green leaves to enrich the soil.
The turmeric cultivation cycle spans about 7 to 9 months, and we harvest around February. Shivom focuses on a turmeric variety known for its high curcumin content. We replant 25% of our harvest to sustain and continue the cycle. Our turmeric is carefully dried, hand-pounded, and packed, ensuring it reaches you in its purest and most natural form.
